Here is a pile of fabric from my UFO’s. It is a Northcott fabric called Midas Touch. I love the quality…it has a nice silky feel to it and adds that extra something to your project. I found a bargello pattern in Fabric Trends magazine with this same fabric.

These colors and the pattern reminded me of Florida and the ocean so when I quilted the borders I used stitch #813 on my Bernina 730E because it looked like a wave. These large decorative stitches are perfect for quilting. I use them often.

I also quilted along the bargello to create a wave affect.

If you can, stop in and check out these fabrics. We’ll be having a class in the Fall so stay tuned.

Happy Sewing,

Quick Gift Idea

Here is a quick table runner I made on my Bernina 730E for a friend. Her favorite color is red (can you tell). I was going to make matching place mats to go with the table runner but just ran out of time so I ended up buying the red placemats. This pattern is a free pattern from the Robert Kaufman website. It is called “Happy Homemaker” and it includes the patterns for matching table runner, placemats and apron. It makes a great gift. The fabrics are available in our store. I quilted the runner by embroidering “Continuous Line Quilting” designs in the center and I added a decorative stitch inside the border.

Last fall, I also made this pattern (see picture below). As you can see, it is one of my UFO’s…they need binding. Hopefully I’ll get them done before the leaves change color again…you know how that goes.

Happy Sewing!

Patriotic Quilts

05/19/08 | by admin [mail] | Categories: NEW CLASSES AND PROJECTS

Today is especially meaningful to our family. Our son, Jason, left for Iraq to serve a six month tour of duty. We are so proud of his seven years of service in the Air Force. We also commend his wife and two children and their loyal support to him whenever he leaves to go overseas. He has been to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and South Korea.

In honor of Jason and his family, I made and sent this blue star service banner to them. This pattern is available at http://www.quiltbus.com along with 2 other patriotic quilts. Bernina also has one called Soldier’s Star on their website www.berninausa.com. In World War II, women hung a star in their window for each loved one fighting in a war. This tradition lives on. If you know someone serving overseas, this is a quick and easy quilt that can be proudly displayed in their absence. I also added a quilt label using HP Custom Quilt Label Kit. In this program, I am able to add pictures and text to create my own cutom labels. Unfortunately, HP no longer makes this product. I use it to label my quilts all the time. I’ve also used it in memory quilts. If any of you know of a similar product that can be purchased, please let me know.

Another UFO...

Another UFO completed. I always seem to have one or two UFO’s just waiting for binding. This was a table runner I made using a pattern that is quilted as you go. This is a quick and easy pattern great for gifts and home and holiday decorating. In the center square, I embroidered a quilting pattern from the Continuous Quilting Design Card. It’s so nice to have both sewing and embroidery options available when I want them. The fabric and pattern used to make this runner are available in our store. We also sell kits that include the fabric and pattern. We ship anywhere in the United States so be sure to contact us if you’d like to place an order. Happy Sewing!!!

Kid's Class was so much FUN

Here are some recent pictures from a kid’s class. This was one of the most productive kids classes we have ever had. We were surprized to see how much they got done in a week. I guess that says a lot for the teacher!!! They also had so much fun.
